In 1974, West Germany win their second FIFA World Cup after beating Johan Cruyff's Holland side 2-1 at the Olympic Stadium in Munich. For the first time ever, the world watched in glorious Technicolor as the winning captain, Franz Beckenbauer, lifted the FIFA World Cup. The Germans, however, did not receive the Jules Rimet Cup but the current cup: a design of solid gold by the Italian sculptor Gazziniggia.
