In 1863, Representatives from 12 of London's football clubs and schools meet in the Freemason's Tavern on a foul autumn morning. It was there, between ale and collations, that the group agreed on a code to regulate the game of football. One of the schools walked out, but the 11 others agreed to form The Football Association.
