West Germany were the first ex-World Cup winner to lose to an African side when they lost 2-1 to Algeria at the 1982 World Cup. Rabah Madjer put the Algerians into a shock lead in the 52nd minute but Karl-Heinz Rummenigge equalised after 67 minutes. The winner came just a minute later from Lakhdar Belloumi.
